  • March 2021 Food Drive

Today (March 10, 2021) the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association (DHBA), along with the Perez Law Firm, partnered with Dallas ISD's Sunset High School for a food pantry and donation drive. Via a local grocer, the DHBA secured the direct purchase of more than $1,100 worth of key staples such as cooking oil, bread, salt, pastas, flour, potatoes, rice, and beans, along with a total of 100 cases of 24-pack bottled waters.

The food drive was scheduled to start at 11am, but had a waiting line as early as 8am from area families in need. As the line grew around the school on to Jefferson Blvd., event organizers agreed to start the donation drive 30 minutes early. As the first car pulled up at 10:30am, they were greeted with a smile, bags of groceries, and a case of bottled water.

Event organizers closed the drive at noon, as the much-needed food drive was coming to a close and a few families had to be turned away as all donations had been quickly depleted.

The DHBA would like to thank the Sunset High School staff that assisted in the organizing of the drive along with DHBA Board Members and area community patrons such as Giovanni Valderas and Manuel Maroches, amongst the many other heroes that made today’s event possible.
