Annual Gala Committee
The Annual Gala Committee plans and executes the DHBA’s signature and sole fundraising event, the “Noche de
Luz Gala,” a formal awards celebration that raises funds for the three DHBA signature pipeline initiatives, (1) the
law student scholarships for the three Dallas-area law schools, (2) the annual Judge Irma C. Ramirez Leadership
Program, and (3) the Judicial Externship Program. The Noche de Luz Gala brings together the DFW legal
community to honor individuals who are lighting the path to the legal profession for Latinas and Latinos in the
DFW, including the President’s Awards, La Luz Award, the Estrella Award, the Corporate Counsel Diversity
Award, the Law Firm Diversity Award, and the DHBA Volunteer of the Year Award.
CLE & Member Engagement Committee
The CLE & Member Engagement Committee provides members opportunities to connect and network through
DHBA hosted events including the board swearing-in ceremony, joint allied bar events, networking socials, and
more. The committee also focuses on learning and professional development opportunities for members including
planning CLEs and member programs on various topics to inform, educate, and equip our members with the
necessary skills to succeed.
In-House Counsel Committee
The In-House Counsel Committee provides a space for Hispanic in-house counsel in the Dallas-area. The committee plans and coordinates networking events and engaging professional development opportunities for in-house counsel members and those aspiring to those roles.
Latina Committee
The Latina Committee is a space for Latina lawyers and law students to participate in professional development and networking events. The committee has two signature programs, the annual Judge Irma C. Ramirez Leadership
Program and the Latina Lawyer Network events. The Leadership Program began in 2016 and targets the unique
professional needs of Latina lawyers and law students. The Latina Lawyer Network was created to encourage
community and stronger network among members. They bring together attorneys through unique social gatherings and events such as cultural activities, happy hours, virtual lunch meetups, and more.
Scholarship & Judicial Diversity Committee
The Scholarship & Judicial Diversity Committee manages the scholarships awarded to law students from the three
Dallas-area law schools, and the Judicial Externship Program, which offers law students a stipend to clerk for
federal and state appellate court judges in Dallas during the summer. The committee supports the review process and the implementation of the programs.
Recognition & Outreach Committee
The Recognition & Outreach Committee focuses on supporting members in their pursuit of professional awards,
recognitions, and nominations both at the local and national levels as well as organizing and participating in
community outreach activities that promote the legal profession and make it more accessible.
