The Dallas Hispanic Bar Association’s Estrellitas Scholarship is awarded by the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association and administered in partnership with the Dallas Hispanic Bar Foundation. This scholarship is funded by proceeds from the annual Noche de Luz gala and generous sponsor support.

The scholarship is open to law students enrolled at the three Dallas-Fort Worth area law schools: SMU Dedman School of Law, Texas A&M School of Law, and UNT Dallas College of Law. The Dallas Hispanic Bar Association encourages applicants who demonstrate involvement in and service to the Hispanic community to apply.

Overview: 

Three (3) law students from each of the participating law schools will be selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship. These scholarships are funded directly by proceeds from sponsor support of the DHBA’s annual Noche de Luz Gala held in the fall of each year.

Applicants must:

• Be currently enrolled at SMU Dedman School of Law, Texas A&M School of Law, or UNT Dallas College of Law
• Be an active member of their law school HLSA/LLSA and a student member of DHBA
• Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
• Intend to practice in Dallas after graduation
• Demonstrate a nexus to the Hispanic community through involvement, service, advocacy, leadership, and/or lived experience

Students should submit:

1. A completed scholarship application
2. An unofficial transcript
3. Two written responses (each 300 words or less)

Scholarship recipients will be notified by email if they are selected and may receive a complimentary gala ticket to attend DHBA’s annual Noche de Luz Gala. Recipients should be prepared to deliver a brief acceptance speech describing what the scholarship means to them, either in person at the Gala or via pre-recorded video.
